How Brulin Cleans Stainless Steel & Inconel Aerospace Tubing Components

Precision and cleanliness are paramount in the aerospace industry, where even the smallest contaminants can have significant consequences. When our client, a manufacturer of various aerospace tubing components, sought to improve their cleaning process, our team of industrial parts cleaning advisors were eager to assist

Their objective was to remove Magna Draw HV residues from parts made of stainless steel and Inconel as they progressed through the production workflow. To accomplish this, they employed an ultrasonic tank equipped with AquaVantage® 815 GD as their current cleaning chemistry.

The client’s existing cleaning process utilized AquaVantage® 815 GD at a concentration of 5% in their ultrasonic tank. The parts, composed of stainless steel and Inconel, underwent a 4-minute cleaning cycle at a temperature of 140°F (60°C).

A single rinse was performed at the same temperature for 4 minutes, followed by air drying. Despite their efforts, the client sought improvement in the cleaning efficacy and sought guidance on determining the tank’s optimal maintenance schedule.

Our Industrial Parts Cleaning Process Solution

Our recommended process adjustments, along with increased awareness of tank maintenance, aimed to deliver better cleaning results and improve the longevity of their ultrasonic tank.

To address the client’s challenges and optimize their cleaning process, we recommended the following adjustments:

  • Chemistry & Concentration: We advised increasing the concentration of AquaVantage® 815 GD to 10% to enhance its cleaning power. This adjustment would ensure more effective removal of Magna Draw HV residues from the aerospace tubing components.
  • Temperature & Time: The temperature and time parameters of the existing process were maintained, with a 4-minute cleaning cycle at 140°F (60°C). This was deemed appropriate for achieving the desired cleaning efficacy.
  • Tank Maintenance & Monitoring: To address the client’s request for improved tank maintenance and monitoring, we provided detailed instructions on titration and educated them on the importance of regularly monitoring and maintaining tank chemistry. This approach would enable them to have better control over the tank’s cleanliness and lifespan.

The Results

At this stage, the effectiveness of the recommended process adjustments will be confirmed through follow-up with the client. This approach to a partnership-oriented relationship allows us to assess the level of improvement in cleaning performance and the extended lifespan of the ultrasonic tank.

Ongoing collaboration with our clients ensures that their specific needs and goals are met, leading to continued enhancement of their cleaning processes.

Through our collaboration with the aerospace tubing component manufacturer, we were able to provide recommendations for an enhanced cleaning process. By increasing the concentration of AquaVantage® 815 GD and emphasizing tank maintenance, we aimed to achieve better cleaning results and prolong the lifespan of their ultrasonic tank.

The importance of regular monitoring and maintenance of the tank chemistry emphasized consistent cleanliness and optimal performance. Through ongoing support and follow-up, we are committed to helping our clients achieve their desired cleaning outcomes and further improve their manufacturing processes.
