Approved Detergents For Aircraft Turbine Engine Inspection & NDT

Inspection of turbine engine components, both rotating parts like blades and discs, as well as non-rotatives, is a critical element of ensuring the safe operating condition of an aircraft engine. A range of inspection techniques are used from the time of fabrication and throughout numerous service intervals during the plane engine’s service life.

Recently, engine inspection has become a more visible part of the conversation around aircraft engine maintenance. Cleaning remains a crucial part of this inspection.

Brulin offers superior solutions that ensure an efficient and effective cleanliness verification process.

AquaVantage® 815 GD and AquaVantage® 3887 GD have both been extensively approved for cleaning turbine engine parts in preparation for the inspection processes, including Nondestructive Testing (NDT) techniques like Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI).

Our goal is to help manufacturers choose the right product for their needs based on specifics of their process, cost reduction goals, throughput time improvements, quality, and environmental impact.

AquaVantage® 815 GD | The Cleaning Standard In Immersion & Ultrasonic Detergents

Approved By: Airbus, Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, Spirit AeroSystems, American Airlines, Bombardier Aerospace, GE Aviation, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, NASA and many more. See all approvals, conformances, and test compliances here.

Aqueous Detergent Information & Overview

AquaVantage® 815 GD is a dilutable, water-based cleaning detergent that uses a proprietary blend of surfactants, chelants, and corrosion inhibitors to remove a wide range of soils from fan blades and other aircraft engine components.

It can be used as a pre-treatment before nondestructive testing methods, such as fluorescent penetrant inspection. AquaVantage® 815 GD is designed to be used in immersion and ultrasonic cleaning systems.

The Advantages Of AquaVantage® 815 GD

AquaVantage® 815 GD has several advantages over other aqueous detergents.

  • It is certified as a Clean Air Solvent by California’s South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD).
  • It is compatible with a wide variety of alloys, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, rubbers, and painted surfaces. It does not cause corrosion, discoloration, or degradation of fan blades or other engine parts.
  • It can clean more fan blades per gallon of solution and extends tank life, reducing the frequency of changing or disposing of the detergent.

AquaVantage® 815 GD is an effective and safe parts cleaning product that can help airlines and MROs save time, money, and resources while ensuring the quality and reliability of their fan blade inspection.
